Below are general expectations of maintenance within The Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, please note that there may be some site specific changes to these requirements. 

Parks

Amenity Grass - In general should be not more than 70mm high. Grass clippings will not be collected.

Certain areas within our parks and on highway verges have been identified as 'wildway' sites where the cutting regime will be reduced to allow meadow-like areas to form. These areas will only be cut intermittently at appropriate times of the year. When selecting these areas the Council aims to strike a balance between providing amenity grass areas maintained to the standards above, with a more naturalistic and nature friendly approach 

Shrub & Rose Beds - In general no more than 15% weed coverage.

Hedges - To be cut twice a year.

Litter - Predominately free of litter and refuse apart from some small items

Litter Bins - Emptied regularly

Footpaths - To be kept free of encroachment from trees, shrubs or other vegetation to a height of 2.5 metres.

Housing

Amenity Grass - In general should be not more than 70mm high. Grass clippings will not be collected.

Wayside Gardens - In general no more than 15% weed coverage.

PRoW - In order to maintain public access to certain areas the cutting back of vegetation is required. Where cutting back is specified it shall mean the cut back and clearance of all vegetation (except trees) to a height of 2.5 metres, soil, litter etc to the back edge or kerbline.
